HOW DO YOU USE YOUR WINCH? CONTEST WINNERS AND ENTRIES

Posted by Jay from West Virginia on April 09, 2007
I was out with some friends enjoying the day and we came upon some mud. I couldn't let anyone show me up so I decided to try out my ride and see what it would do, until I high centered it completely. It wouldn't move in any direction. My friend then decided he would back in, hook to me and pull me out. He started pulling and needless to say, he was hung as well, in the same hole. He then hooked to me using my winch, and to a tree with his, both WARN 2.5ci winches, and began pulling. With no effort at all, we were both out and on our way to enjoy the rest of our ride. Without our WARN winches, it could have been a VERY long and bad day.

I have a WARN 3.0ci installed on my 2005 Arctic Cat 500 TBX. This machine can literally go just about anywhere and is often the one most called upon to get others out of trouble. In the pictures I've attached you'll see my buddy Mike, stuck as usual, in the deepest mire that he could find. As a testament to my Cat I simply drove out to him, released my cable so that he could hook up and simply backed up a ways before reeling him in. I had to repeat this procedure (releasing the cable, back up, lock winch and reel him in) three times on this day as he kept spinning his way deeper and deeper into the soft ground. My 3.0 performed flawlessly, as always and I was eventually able to get him out. Of course this was well after I made sure to get a couple pictures so that I could share them with you!

This is a photo of an ATV winching out an ATV pulling another ATV at Mud Nationals in Jacksonville, TX.

This is me on my old Kawasaki Prairie 650 equipped with a WARN 2500lb winch. This photo was taken a few years ago in Trace State Park in Mississippi. The WARN winch pulled out the Prairie with no problems.

This is a normal Saturday riding with my friends. By the way this is my 500i.

My friends and I ride primarily in an area known as Jone's Swamp. Last weekend while trying to help one of our group out of a bog, I managed to stick a highly modified Brute Force 750 in the process. With the bike stuck down to the floorboards and a very firm suction pulling on the tires, if it had not been for my WARN 2.5ci winch I would still be there. It took 45 minutes alternating the throttle and winch to finally break the suction and pull it free. Lesson learned: never get caught without a WARN.

This is my adventure with my WARN winch in Italy!

I originally had a piece of junk Venom 1500 pound winch. Which by the way is busted now after having it for one fall season and the beginning of a winter season. I am hoping to buy an XT15 for my Polaris Hawkeye but I have to wait for work to begin in the summer. I enjoy riding my four-wheeler but getting stuck is never fun unless you have an amazing WARN winch to get unstuck with.

This is what happens when you are on a trail for the first time and someone says "I'm sure you can make it through there." You wind up on the end of someone else's WARN 2.5. I got down in this mudhole and the bottom just disappeared on the left side of the quad. I knew I was done for and started to unspool my own winch line from my WARN 3.0 but one of my buddies had already anticipated my stuck and threw me their line. After a little assistance from my buddie's WARN 2.5 we were back on the trail.

OK. Sure we were just joking around with this shot. By the way, the guy hooked up to the truck is none other than Second Round Winner Scott. We actually ran into the guys that drove this truck off the road later in the day during our ride. They asked us if we could help get them out, so we went back to the parking area and got my WARN 8000i-equipped Powerstroke and got their truck back on the road. WARN... Don't leave home without it!

Went riding one day with a couple of buddies. One was doing fish tales the whole ride. Ending up off the side of a ditch almost flipping into it, he didn't know that it was there. Had to use my WARN 2.5 winch and some man power to get him out.

I use my 2.5ci WARN winch for pulling my Can Am Outlander 800 out off almost everything, mud and snow mainly and also plowing snow. I plow about 15 driveways with no problem thanks to WARN. I also used it to pull a wood chipper which was stuck in the mud, it pulled it out with no problem. I have been using WARN winches since the mid 90's and will never use anything else. They are so reliable I can't imagine using anything else. THANKS A LOT WARN!
